Joe Norris Wiggins was born on Tuesday, September 13, 1938 to Horace and Alice (Deloach) Wiggins, in Early Branch, South Carolina. Joe was educated in the St. Johns County School District. He was employed with Fairchild , and later Grumman. Joe enjoyed cooking, baking cakes, photography, and playing cards. He liked to dress and spend time with family. Joe grew up in Antioch Church. Later, he became a member of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, Palatka.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in eternal rest by his sisters, Betty Lou Gilyard and Dorothy Holman; grandson, Taveres Rondell; step-son, Henry L. Thomas.
Joe Norris Wiggins entered the sunset of life on Monday, February 2, 2026, at UF Health St. Johns (formerly Flagler) Hospital in St. Augustine.
Cherished memories of Joe remain with: his daughters, Alice Vanderpool, Hampton, VA; Jacqueline Major, Deerfield Beach; grandchildren, Willie D. Strobridge, Daryl J. (Izana) Wiggins, Alton D. Strobridge, Avis L. (Gerald) McCaslin, Romalice Rondell and Angel Rondell, 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen (Anthony, Sr.) Williams, Palatka; step-children, Mae T. Burch, Sandra J. Thompson, Patricia A. Branch, all of St. Augustine; Nathaniel B. McCall, York, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be held from 4-6 p.m., Friday, February 13, at Antioch Baptist Church, 833 Pearl St, St. Augustine. A Celebration of Joe's Life will commence at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 14, at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Ave, Palatka. Rev. Karl N. Flagg, Senior Pastor and Eulogist. Interment: Oak Hill West Cemetery.
