Yolanda Sophronia Edwards Nesbitt, 46, of Jacksonville, entered the sunset of life on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Memorial Hospital, Jacksonville. The daughter of Harrison Edwards, III and Alice "Gwen" Wilson Curry, she was born on Saturday, July 4, 1970 in Wilmington, DE. She was a 1988 graduate of Terry Parker High School, Jacksonville. In 1990, Yolanda earned a Medical Assistant Associate Degree from Jones College, Jacksonville. She was employed with Oceanway Pediatrics (Dr. Iris Eisenberg, Pediatrician) of Jacksonville for 20+ years, and subsequently with Children's Health Association. She was a member of Love, Faith, & Peace Deliverance Temple of Jacksonville where she served as a praise and worship leader and as a youth ministry leader. Her hobbies included singing and eating crabs.
Yolanda was preceded in eternal rest by her maternal grandparents, Jesse and Alice Wilson, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Harrison and Rosalie Edwards, II; uncle, Jesse "Bubba" Wilson, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories: husband, Todd S. Nesbitt, Jacksonville; daughters, Jade C. Nesbitt, Angel T. Wilson, both of Jacksonville; mother, Alice Gwendolyn Curry, Jacksonville; father, Harrison (Marion) Edwards, III, Palatka; sisters, Heather (Richard) Edwards, Jacksonville; Tiffany Edwards, Green Cove Springs; brothers, Marvin Curry (Latoya Nelson), Jacksonville; Steven Edwards, Palatka; Lee Harrison Edwards, Jacksonville; Abrie (LaTangie) Curry, Jr., St. Augustine; uncle, Moses (Doris) Bryant, Palatka; aunts, Juanita Thomas, Wilmington, DE; Gwendolyn (Darryl) Barrs, Ormond Beach; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, February 24 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Celebration of Yolanda's Life will be 1 p.m., Saturday, February 25, at Mount Olive A.M.E. Church, 115 Pine Street, East Palatka. Elder Frank James, Jr., Pastor of Love, Faith & Peace Deliverance Temple, Jacksonville, officiating.
