Wilma Lanita Williams, 49, of Palm Coast (formerly San Mateo), entered the sunset of life on Friday, April 17, 2020 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident on SR 100 in Flagler County. A native of Palatka, she was born on Saturday, December 12, 1970. Wilma was a 1989 graduate of Palatka High School and continued her education by studying Social Sciences at Bethune Cookman University. She was a member of 2 nd Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, San Mateo where she served as the youth director and was an active participant in the dance and drama ministries. She was engaged in the mission of the Deaconess ministry and was soon to be officially appointed by her Pastor. She served as Vice President of Zeta Mu Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. (Chapter of Amicae). She was employed in health care administration with the Surgical Department at AdventHealth Palm Coast. She was formerly employed with Anastasia Pediatrics, Azalea Health (now known as Aza Health), eligibility specialist and family support worker at Palatka Redlands Christian Migrant Association (RCMA), and as a social worker with the FL Department of Children & Families (DCF). Wilma enjoyed shopping, decorating, event planning, listening to music, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in eternal rest by her father , Raymond Bryant, Sr., maternal grandparents , Wilmer Sr., and Georgian Gilyard, father in law & mother-in-law , Charlie Sr., and Mozella Williams; and simultaneously with daughters , Mozella Taliyah Annette and Kaleigh Aaliyah Williams; uncle, Rodney Gilyard, Sr.
Wilma leaves to cherish her memories: devoted husband, Louis Tyrone Williams, Sr., Palm Coast; parents, Harry and Regina Gilyard-Thomas, San Mateo; daughter, Faith Lyons, Atlanta, GA; step-children , Kandice Williams, Shaniqua Williams, both of Palm Coast; Louis T. Williams, II, Elkton; 3 grandchildren, Terrell Jones, Jaelen Jones, Tristan Thomas; brothers, Ernest Stokes, Jr., San Mateo; Marcus Stokes, Sr., Palm Coast; Raymond Bryant, Jr., East Palatka; sisters , Rhonda Jara, Satura Stokes, both of San Mateo; god-children , Donald Floyd, Tyron Gilyard, Branden Gilyard, Demi "PooPoo" Canty; aunts/uncles, Lillian Gilyard-Lee, Lilla Holsey, Levonia Holsey, Wilmer (Jackie) Gilyard, Sr., Larry (Linda) Gilyard, Sr., Sandra Gilyard, Shelton "Keith" Gilyard, Sr., Mitchell McKinnon, Jr., Sharon Hardy, Fredrick (Claretta) McKinnon; and a host of sisters and brothers-in-law, other relatives, and friends.
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and the Governor's executive stay-at-home order, the Williams family will conduct a Drive-in Homegoing Celebration (attendees must stay in their vehicles) at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 25, at the North Campus Pavilion of the Palm Coast United Methodist Church, 6500 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, FL Rev. Kevin M. James, Sr., Pastor. Rev. Charlie Williams, Jr., pastor of 2 nd Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, San Mateo, is the eulogist. A private family interment will be in the Old San Mateo Cemetery.
