IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Lee
Ringo
May 7, 1947 – April 5, 2023
William Lee Ringo was born in New York City on Wednesday, May 7, 1947, to parents, Lee and Gladys (Dixon) Ringo. He grew up with his brothers: Haleem Shabazz and Thomas Ringo and one sister, Gladys Ringo. He attended Public School 44, Junior High School 258, and the George Westinghouse High School, in Brooklyn, New York, graduating in 1965.
William attended New York City Technical College, after graduating high school and majored in Electronic Engineering Technology. After enlisting in the United States Army in 1967, William attended the U.S. Army Southeastern Signal School. He served his Country for six years, doing part of his service time in Vietnam. William was promoted to Staff Sergeant. Upon returning home from his overseas military assignment, William served in the Army Reserves until his retirement in 1994.
After returning home, William was employed by the New York City Transit Authority in the position of Signal Maintainer and retired in 1997 after 27 years of employment.
While at a New York City Transit dance, he met Jean, the love of his life, the mother of his children, and to whom he was married for 41 years.
William was introduced to what would eventually become his retirement home by first investing in Time-Share property in Florida, and later building his dream home, in which he has resided for the past 17 years, in Palm Coast, Florida. William really enjoyed being retired. As his loving wife, member of Mt. Calvary would say, "William loved to help people; loved playing cards with his friends; and really loved going to the movies where he could sit through several shows in one day." He would also enjoy watching boxing matches as he was an amateur boxer in his youth.
Both he and his love, Jean, took frequent trips including many cruises.
Among their many ports of call were Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Oahu, Hawaii; Havana, Cuba; cruising through the Panama Canal and visiting most of the Islands in the Caribbean.
On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, while surrounded by his loving family at home, William entered a new phase of life, eternity.
William was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and will be sorely missed. Leaving to mourn and celebrate his life are his Loving Wife: Jean; 1 Brother: Thomas Ringo; 5 Daughters: Stacy, Toyshia, and Niquina Ringo, Janee' Trotman, and Onika (Demetrius) Adamson; 4 Grandchildren: Maurlene Pessima, Najah Adamson, Dejah Adamson and Niera Davis.
