January 7, 1941 – September 18, 2023
William Middlebrooks, the son of Lois (Elijah) Middlebrooks and Dominic Campbell, was born on Tuesday, January 7, 1941 in Metter, GA. In 1949, William and his mother moved to Walterboro, SC, where she met and married Elijah Middlebrooks. William was educated in Colleton County SC School District. He eventually moved to Baldwin, FL and was employed as a railroad maintenance worker for many years. In 1973, he moved to Palatka and worked at Florida Furniture until their closing in 2002. He subsequently was employed by Middleton Farms in Elkton until his health declined. He was united in marriage to the former Margie Gibbs on October 31, 1997. William formerly attended Rhema Healing and Deliverance Missionary Church. William enjoyed fishing, gardening, dancing and fixing things. William could always be found, telling jokes making everyone laugh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his daughter, Linda Middlebrooks.
William Middlebrooks entered the sunset of life on Monday, September 18, 2023 at AdventHealth Stuart F. Meyer Hospice Care Center, Palm Coast.
He leaves to cherish his memories: devoted wife of 25 years, Margie Middlebrooks, Palatka; sons, William Middlebrooks Jr, Tampa; William Middlebrooks III, Richmond, VA; Victor Middlebrooks, Brunswick, GA; Dwight Morton Jr., Palatka; Trevarous Morton, Daytona Beach; daughters, Nicole Middlebrooks, Brunswick, GA; Stephanie (James) Parker, Palatka; Shikeeta (Maurio) Doles, Daytona Beach; granddaughters, Makylah Gibbs, Daytona Beach; Diamond Alexander, Palatka; goddaughters, Payton Brinson, Palatka; Janesha Johnson, Fort Myers; brothers-in- law, Sylvester Tobler, Fort Myers; Herbert (Nancy) Tobler, Palatka; sisters-in- law, Brenda Smith, East Palatka; Victoria Gibbs, Palatka; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 4-6 p.m., Friday, September 29; Celebration of William's Life will be 1 p.m., Saturday, September 30 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Pastor Rodderick D. King, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
