May 17, 1954 – April 24, 2019
William Ray "Bill" Abbott , 64 , of Crescent City , entered the sunset of life on Wednesday , April 24 , 2019 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, Palatka . A native of Tacoma , WA, he was the son of Charles and Mary (Wagner) Abbott , born on Monday, May 17, 1954 . Due to his father's military status, Bill became accustomed to traditional military family relocations. Since he was educated in the Jefferson County, KY School District a nd a graduate of Pleasure Ridge Park High School of Louisville, he considered Louisville, KY., as his hometown. He attended First United Methodist Church of Welaka . He was a longtime employee of Georgia-Pacific (formerly Hudson Pulp & Paper Mill) working as a digester cook/wash room operator for nearly 44 years, retiring in 2016. Bill's hobbies included riding his Harley Davidson t rike, scuba diving, fishing , and antique cars. He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America , Hershey, PA and the local Azalea Region A ntique A utomobile C lub of America, Palatka.
He was also a member of Morocco Shrine Club , Jacksonville ; He was a mason affiliated with Lake Lodge #72, Lake Como; Worthy Patron, Order of the Easte r n Star , Crescent City # 200; Past Patron, Lake Como ; and often visited Barberville # 51 , Pierson . Both of h is parents pr eceded him in eternal rest .
He leaves to cherish his memories: devoted wife , Holly Jane Abbott, Crescent City ; brother , Charles "Sam" (Sandie) Abbott, Beaverton, OR ; sister , Kay Bentz, Live Oak, FL ; brother-in-law, Glenn (Pam) Eubank, Crescent City; and a host of o ther relatives and friends.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3 p .m. , Wednesday , May 8 , 2019 at Haven Hospice Memorial Chapel, 6400 St. Johns Avenue, Rev. Karl N. Flagg, pastor of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, officiating . Masonic and Order of Eastern Star ceremonial rites will be conducted and also special tributes from the Azalea Region AACA Club. Memorial Contributions in honor of "Bill Abbott" may be sent to Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center or the Shriner's Hospital (Cripple Children 's Unit).
