William Henry Banks, Jr., 69, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at his residence following an extended illness. The son of William Henry Sr., & Carrie Louise (Keenhill) Banks, he was a native and longtime resident of Palatka, born on Thursday, February 10, 1944. At an early age, he was baptized at Mount Tabor First Baptist Church. William was educated in the Putnam County School District and was a 1961 graduate of Central Academy High School. He was an honorably discharged U. S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Era. He was a retired 12-year factory worker at the former Central States Diversified, Palatka. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and solving crossword puzzles. His parents preceded him in eternal rest. To cherish his memories, wife, Joyce Baskin Banks, Palatka; Daughter, Karen Nicole Banks(Rodney) Gilyard, Palatka; Son, Jeremy D. Banks, Orlando; Brothers, Kenneth (Annie Ruth) Banks, Jacksonville; Ronald (Martha) Banks, Ft. Walton Beach; 6 grandchildren, Darius, NiQuan, Janiya, Je'Myle, Jayla, and Kaliyah; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, classmates and caring friends. The family will announce a planned memorial at a later date to be held in honor of William's 70th birthday during the weekend of February 10, 2014.
