Obituary

Whittie Joe "Wilson" Barlow, Sr., 68, retired farming contractor, of Pomona Park, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Putnam Community Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a native of Jackson, Georgia, born Wednesday, October 29, 1941. The son of Roosevelt & Mattie (Goodrum) Barlow, he was educated in the Butts County, Georgia and the Putnam County, FL School systems (Middleton High School, Crescent City). He has been a resident of Pomona Park for over 55 years and was a member of New Mt. Tamo Baptist Church. Whittie was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Mae Francis Miller. Wilsons hobbies included driving his friends to their respective appointments, gardening, and taking care of his two turkeys.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in eternal rest by his son, Anthony George Butterball Barlow, Sr., Brothers, Theodore Roosevelt Dannis Barlow, R. J. Barlow; Sisters, Barbara Carey and Laura Mae Barlow.

To cherish his memories: beloved wife of 48 years, Mae Francis Barlow, Pomona Park; sons and daughters, Whittie (Crystal) Barlow, Jr., Georgetown; Alicia (Les Johnson) Miller, James (Wendy) Harris, Dennis (Sharon) Barlow, Tonya Strickland, all of Pomona Park; Gwen Harris, Ft. Lauderdale; Vivian Richardson, Crescent City; Alphonso (Latrice) Barlow, Atlanta, GA; Sarah Barlow, Palatka; and Antwan Barlow, Palatka; Devoted Sister, Mamie (Willie, Sr.) Simmons, Pomona Park; Brother, George (Temperance) Barlow, Welaka; Great Aunts, Mamie Watkins, Maudine Taylor, both of Jackson, GA; Sally (Forrest) Saffo, Atlanta, GA; 23 Grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends.

Visitation of family & friends will be from 5-7p.m. Friday, October 29 (on his 69th Birthday) at the church. Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m., Saturday, October 30 at New Mt. Tamo Missionary Baptist Church, 33 South Railroad Ave., Pomona Park. Rev. Theodore McRae, pastor is the eulogist.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Crescent City
