Obituary

Deacon Wesley Onslow Bobb, 88, of Palatka, peacefully entered into eternal rest early Monday morning, January 23, 2017 at Crestwood Nursing Center, Palatka. The son of Conrad W. and Caroline Wickham Bobb, he was a native of Ann's Grove, Guyana in South America, born on Saturday, April 7, 1928. He was educated in the East Coast Demerara of Guyana at Ann Grove's Methodist School. In June 1957, he was united in holy matrimony to the former Negla Phillippa Roach (1923-2010). From 1959 until 1971, the Bobb's resided in London, England and in 1971, they journeyed to the United States. They became U.S. citizens and residents of Brooklyn, NY and in 1976, they visited Florida and admired the quiet, small-town atmosphere of Palatka, subsequently residing here for the past 40 years. He was a retired Palatka Housing Authority maintenance foreman and was a master carpenter and upholsterer.

On January 1, 1977, the Bobb family united with Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church and served faithfully until the Master called them to their eternal home. He was active in the Deacon's Ministry, Senior Ministry, Men's Ministry and also served as a Church School Teacher. "Deacon Bobb" never met a stranger, truly enjoyed studying God's Word, visiting the sick and helping those in need. He was a longtime member of the Sunday School Forum and the Palatka Community Prayer Band. His favorite hymns "I Am Thine O Lord" and "Blessed Assurance," reflected his strong faith in the Lord. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in eternal rest by his daughter, Lynette Dalrymple.

He leaves to cherish his memories: son, Conrad Henry, Louisville, KY; daughter, Ingrid Otto; brother, Colville Bobb; sister, Iris Telford, all of Guyana; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, especially devoted niece, Ellabelle Patricia Kowlessar, Lake Worth, FL; devoted nephews, William Bobb, Baltimore, MD, Tony Kowlessar, Ft. Lauderdale; godson, Tyrone (Esther) Rayburn, Palatka; other relatives and numerous caring friends.

Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, Rev. Karl N. Flagg, Senior Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Palatka Memorial Gardens.
