Obituary

Wanda Yvette Lewis, 49, of Augusta (Hephzibah), GA., entered the sunset of life on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at her residence. The daughter of Mae Thelma Lewis Frazier of Palatka and William W. White of Fort Lauderdale, Wanda was born on Saturday, June 2, 1962 in Palatka. She was a graduate of Palatka High School, Class of 1980. She accepted Christ in her life at an early age at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Frederick T. Demps and formerly sang in the Inspirational Choir. Wanda married her high school sweetheart, Roosevelt Lavone Lewis on May 9, 1981.Wanda was a certified Home Childcare provider. She earned her Certified Nursing Assistant credentials from Kerr Business College of Augusta, GA. was formerly employed as a C.N.A. by the Augusta Glenn Assistant Living Facility and subsequently became the Area Lead Coordinator for the duration of her 16-year nursing career at the Sunrise Assistant Living Facility. Wanda was a member of the Palatka Trend Setters volleyball team before taking her skills to the Womans Army Volleyball team for spouses. Wanda also enjoyed playing bingo, and her favorite pastime was coming home to Palatka to eat blue crabs with her family.

She was preceded in eternal rest by her son; Roosevelt Lavone Lewis, Jr., father-in-law, F. D. Roosevelt Lewis; maternal grandparents, Emma Mae Williams-Lewis and Allie Lewis; paternal grandparents, Willie White and Betsy White Ware.

White, Winter Haven; Sisters, Esicena Karen Walker (Eddie), Joyce Ann Hendrieth (Sylvester), Alesia Romeria Hall (Clarence Herbie III), all of Palatka; Minister Zyhenya (Keith) McDonald, Riverview, FL; Brothers, Miguel White, Jacquel White, and Lamonte White, all of Ft. Lauderdale; Grandchildren, Davon Demetrius Philips, Zaniyah DeShae Lewis, Kaydence D. A. Ramsey, Khalia MaKayla Lewis, Paris Janelle Fletcher, all of Augusta; mother-in-law, Mattie Ruth Lewis, Palatka; a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, special friends, god sisters, god brothers, and other relatives.

Visitation of family and friends will be Friday, September 9 from 5-8 p.m. Homegoing Celebration will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Pastor. The Reverend Frederick T. Demps, pastor of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church is the eulogist.

Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery. The cortege will assemble at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at her mothers residence, 106 Raintree Woods Trail, Palatka.
