Walter Fuller Hodges, 62, of Green Cove Springs, entered the sunset of life on Friday, December 28, 2012 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Green Cove Springs, he was the son of Willie and Addie Pearl Hodges, born on Wednesday, January 31, 1945. He was educated in the Clay County School District (Dunbar High School.) He was a retired maintenance man for the city of Green Cove Springs following 20 years of service. In his early years, he was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. His hobbies included cooking, fishing, and gardening. He especially loved his children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by four siblings, Mildred Hodges, Gilbert Hodges, Rose Hodges, and Frank Hodges. Those who cherish his memories: children, Walter Timothy Hodges, Walter Hodges, and Barlett Hodges, Kenneth Darwell Hodges all of Green Cove Springs; Consuelo Hodges, Colorado Springs, CO; siblings, Betty Jean Hodges, Palatka; Willie M. Hodges, Jacksonville; Wilhelmina Wilson, Middleburg; Willie Hodges, Sr.; Nelson Hodges, both of Green Cove Springs; 11 grandchildren; Zino, Walter, Shakayl, ShazQauisha, Raquan, Aniqa, NyQuil, Kenisha, Phillip, Timothy and Christopher Hodges, all of Jacksonville; 1 great-granddaughter, Kira Walker and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends at the church will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 4. Homegoing Celebration will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 5 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 1300 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Green Cove Springs. Rev. Robert L. Wright, pastor is the eulogist. Interment will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Green Cove Springs.
