Obituary

Walter Jeff "Tooley" Anderson, 79, of Gainesville and formerly of Satsuma, entered the sunset of life on Friday, August 14, 2020 at Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, Gainesville. A native of Satsuma, FL, he was the son of Jeff Anderson and Alma Wilson Johnson, born on Tuesday, April 29, 1941. He was educated in the Putnam County School District at Central Academy and subsequently earned an Associate of Arts degree at the former Collier-Blocker Junior College. He was an honorable discharged U.S. Army veteran and was stationed in Germany. He was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of Assembly of Praise Ministries, Gainesville. Walter was a retired custodian and was also a therapy aide at the Kirby Forensic Center in Manhattan. Nicknamed, "Jeffro" and "PeeBee," he loved fancy cars. His hobbies included walking, cooking, shopping and detailing cars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his brothers, Arthur, Anthony, Edward, Albert, Willie; sister, Alfreda.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his soulmate of 30 years, Theresa Norris, Riverhead, L.I., NY; 9 children, Walter (Greta) Mims, Lavette (Danora) Mims, Talisa (Athanasius) Ajavon, Kecia (Elwood) Lamb, all of Riverhead, Long Island NY; Marcus (Lissette) Mims, Bronx, NY; Jackie (Jerry) Mims, Daytona Beach; Jeffrey (Mariana) Norris, Owings Mills, MD; Rhonda (Rodney) Cooley, Atlanta, GA; Shelia Wilson H, Jacksonville; 40 grandchildren; brothers, Edward (Rebecca) Johnson, Leonard (Rosemary) Johnson; sisters, Arlene (Samuel) Johnson, Betty (Joseph) Cromwell, Cathy (Willie) Gilyard, Bonita (Lonnie) Burden; special nieces/nephews, Ebony Bradley (caregiver), Charlene Rawlins, Samuel Corey Courman; special friends, Agnes Walker, Jerrie Mae Walker, Ernest Freeman, Thomas Norris, Milton Washington; former sisters-in-law, Cheryl Johnson, Thelma Neal; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving family and friends.

In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines (including required masks) a private family, socially-distanced Life Memorial Celebration will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 25 at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity. Dr. L. L. Dixon, PhD.., pastor of Assembly of Praise Ministries, Gainesville, is the eulogist. Friends are invited to join the family virtually via Facebook live: Flagg Serenity Memorial Chapel.
