Wallace Brooks, 64, of Satsuma, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Haven Hospice of the Lakes Roberts Care Center in Palatka following a brief illness. Wallace was a native of Macon County, Georgia, born Sunday, March 9, 1947 and was educated in the Macon County School System. He was a member of New Mt. Tamo Missionary Baptist Church of Pomona Park. Wallace was employed as a foreman for 12 years with W .L. Simmons Landscaping. He enjoyed listening to music and watching westerns.
He was preceded in eternal rest by his stepfather, Elzie Nelson.
To cherish his memories: wife, Catherine D. Brooks, Satsuma; mother, Ilene Brooks Nelson, Ideal, GA; brothers, Willie G. Brooks, Charleston, SC; Willie (Willie Jean) Simmons, LaGrange, GA; Charlie (Lois) Simmons and Leonard Simmons, both of Ft. Myers; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011. The Homegoing Celebration will be 4 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the Chapel of Serenity, 2400 Madison Street, Palatka. Rev. Theodore McRae, pastor of New Mt. Tamo Missionary Baptist Church, Pomona Park, is the eulogist.
