Vivian Yvette Smith Bailey, 50, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center following a brief illness. A native of Palatka, she was born on Thursday, July 26, 1962 to Frank Smith, Sr. and Katie Lee Jones. She was educated at Lakewood High School in New Jersey. In 1983, she moved back to Palatka and was employed as a housekeeper, certified nursing assistant and a caregiver. In 2008, she married Thomas Bailey and relocated to Tampa. Vivian was formerly affiliated with Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed, singing, sewing and decorating. In addition to her parents, Vivian was preceded in eternal rest by her stepfather, John Chapman; sister, Mary Ethel Jones; brothers, Frank Smith, Jr., Barry Smith; maternal grandparents, William and Mary Jones; uncle, Sammie Calhoun; aunt, Ethel Lee Jones. Those who treasure her loving memories: husband, Thomas, Bailey, Tampa; daughters, Latasha and Latonya Smith; Siquoya Williams; one son, Gerard Baskin, all of Palatka; brother, Sylvester Bell, Hollywood; sisters, Shelia Smith Holman, Asbury Park, NJ; Shirley Smith Mobley; Linda Smith Burney, both of Palatka; 4 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and caring friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, December 7th at the "Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 8th, at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, Rev. Karl N. Flagg, pastor. Minister Anthony Williams, associate minister of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill East Cemetery, Palatka. The cortege will assemble at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at 916 N. 15th Street, Palatka.
