Virda Bellamy Smith, 62, of San Mateo, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at Haven Hospice of the Lakes Roberts Care Center following a brief illness. She was a native of Palatka, born January 30, 1946 to the late Jimmy and Mary (Chestnut) Bellamy. Virda was a lifelong Putnam County resident and was a graduate of Central Academy High School. She was employed by Georgia Pacific in the Tissue-converting Department and retired following 32 years of employment. Virda was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. On August 1, 1975, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Lorenzo Vernon L.V. Smith, Sr. Virda is preceded in eternal rest by her parents, Jimmy & Mary Bellamy; Sister, Verdelle Brooks; Brother, Jimmy Bellamy, Jr.; Grandchildren; LaDiedra Allen, LaTasia Keenon, and Bryanna Smith; Niece, Tammy Bellamy. Those who miss her most and cherish her memories, Loving & Devoted husband of 33 years, Lorenzo Vernon L.V Smith, Sr., San Mateo; Daughters, Tanglar (Everett) Dallas; Angelia (Wilbert) Hough, both of Palatka; Belinda (Russell) Williams, Orlando; Katrina (Michael) Peeples, San Mateo; April Givens, Hinesville, GA; Sons, Lorenzo (Katrina) Smith, III; Bryan (Arnefia) Smith, East Palatka; Step-Son, Lorenzo Vernon (Pamela) Smith, Jr., Palatka; Sisters, Floritta (John) Williams and Muriel (Edward) Brown, both of Palatka; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and caring friend. Visitation of family and friends will be Wednesday, August 6th, from 5-8 p.m. at the Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration will be Thursday, August 7th, 2 pm at the Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, 1501 Bronson St, Palatka, Elder J.C. Tookes, Pastor, Eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
