Obituary

Viola Roberts Mickles, 99, of Grandin, entered the sunset of life on Nov. 29, 2008 at her residence. A native of Folkston, GA., she was a resident of Jacksonville since the 1920s, moving to Grandin in 1989. She was born April 30, 1909 to the union of Adam and Rosa Lee Roberts. She was the beloved wife of 63 years of the late Rev. James Mickles. She was a longtime member of the Church of God by Faith and former member of the Paxon Revival Center. The Mickles family formerly owned and operated Mickles Laundry & Dry Cleaners and a family farm. In 1989, they established Mickles Hog Farm in Grandin. She was a great cook and enjoyed life as a homemaker on the farm To cherish her memories: daughter, Delores (Irvin) Sawyer, Jacksonville; son, Dolphus (Veronica) Edison, Grandin, FL; brother, Nathaniel (Josephine) Roberts, Jacksonville; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. Celebration of her life will be graveside on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008 at 10 a.m., at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, Rev. Karl N. Flagg, officiating.
