Vincent "Vince" Walton Julius, Sr., 88, of Palm Coast,entered the sunset of lifeon Sunday, May 8, 2016, at his residence. The son of William and Rosamond (Edmead) Julius, he was a native of South Bronx, NY., born on Friday, May 20, 1927. He was a graduate of Metropolitan Vocational High School of Bronx, NY., where he earned a diploma in Marine Engines and subsequently became a Marine Engineer. SSG Julius was inducted at Ft. Hancock, NJ, during World War II and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army at Ft. Benning, GA., on October 30, 1946. He was also a former Postal Clerk. He was united in holy matrimony to Martha Lucille Barnes on February 19, 1950 and they became the proud parents of one son, Vincent, Jr. Captain Julius served a 32-year professional, stellar career as a New York City Firefighter. He was a member of the Vulcan Society (a fraternal organization of African-American Firefighters) and also was a founding member of the International Association of Black Professional Fire Fighters (IABPFF). In 2001, the Julius family united with Mt. Calvary Baptist Church (Asher Tribe) of Palm Coast and served in the Security Ministry. He also served as a mentor at Bunnell Elementary School. He also faithfully served on the Board of Directors of African-American Cultural Society and his hobbies included photography. In addition to their son, Walton; his wife of 65 years preceded him in eternal rest on March 31, 2015.
He leaves to cherish his memories: devoted godson, Kenneth Martin; 3 grandchildren, Silver Rene, Vincent Rashard and Shomarie Julius; one great-granddaughter, Lisa Rochelle Julius; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to services on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 75 Pine Lakes Parkway S., Palm Coast, Reverend Edwin Coffie, Pastor is the Eulogist.Visits: 0
