December 18, 1944 – July 9, 2021
Vernola Wilson Miller, 76, of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life on Friday, July 9, 2021 at her residence. A native of Crescent City, she was the daughter of Leroy Wilson and Agnes P. (Cross) Wilson, born on Monday, December 18, 1944. She was educated in the Putnam County School District at Middleton High School. Years ago, she was employed as a machine operator at L & W Wood Products. She subsequently started her own business, becoming the proud owner/operator of Vernola Miller's Day Care Center. She was a lifelong member of Union Bethel A.M.E. Church, Crescent City, where she faithfully served as a Trustee. Vernola was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed shopping, cooking, and especially loved hosting family cookouts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her son, William "Ronnie" Brockington; daughter, Wanda Yvette Wilson Cazely; granddaughter, Jennifer Cazely; sister, Dorothy W. Speer.
She leaves to cherish her legacy of love: son, Retired MSG Michael (Daisy) Wilson, Savannah, GA; son-in-law, Keith "Sonny" Cazely, Sr., Aberdeen, MD; granddaughter, Sherlain "Buffy" Moody; grandsons, Keith (Christina) Cazely, Jr., Dallas, TX; Elder Taurean (Jessica) Wilson, Palm Coast; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Debra (Larry) Boges, Daytona Beach; aunts, Agnes Walker and Linda Cross, both of Crescent City; Willie Mae Cross, Boston, MA; niece, Brenda Rainey, Tampa; brother-in-law, Charlie Speer, Tampa; and a host of other relatives and friends.
(Mandatory CDC guidelines for social distancing and masks required): Visitation of family and friends will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, July 16 at Johnson Temple Church of God in Christ, 1150 Huntington Road, Crescent City. Homegoing Celebration will be held graveside at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 17 at Eden Cemetery, 921 Oakwood Street, Crescent City. Reverend George L. Reed, Pastor of Union Bethel A.M.E. Church, is the eulogist.
