Obituary

Vernesia Eugenia Williams, 57, of Pomona Park, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Clearwater Center, Clearwater . The daughter of Dewey "Shack" Williams, Sr. and Eva Mae (Simmons) Williams, she was born on Sunday, August 29, 1965, in Pomona Park, Florida. Vernesia was educated in the Putnam County School District and a graduate of Crescent City High School's class of 1983 where she played basketball. She was a member of New Mt. Tamo Missionary Baptist Church, Pomona Park. Upon graduating high school, she attended Barbizon School of Modeling in Tampa Vernesia, enjoyed drawing and was fondly known in the community as "Hollywood".

Vernesia was preceded in eternal rest by her parents, Dewey "Shack" Williams, Sr.; Eva Mae (Simmons) Davis; Willie "Buddy" & Mamie (Barlow) Simmons; siblings, Terrance "Nukey" Davis; Dewey "Charlie Brown" Williams, Jr. and Linda F. Simmons.

To cherish her memories: sons, Victor "Poppa" Lee; Justin Strickland, both of Pomona Park; Donnie (Ashley) Strickland, Benson, NC; sisters , Nannette (Jerry) Mahone, Crescent City; Roegina Simmons, Pomona Park; brothers , Eric (Angela) Hawkins, Clayton, NC; Johnnie "Zeke" (Queen) Simmons, Sr., Willie "Luke" (Kathryn) Simmons, Jr., and Christopher Simmons, all of Pomona Park; Leon (Marie) Hill, Palatka; significant other, Donnie Strickland, Sr. Benson, NC; special niece, Quesandra (Anthony) Ward, Edgewood, MD; grandchildren, Christopher Strickland, Shawntae'Vius Strickland, Donnie Strickland, III, Serenity Strickland, Justine Strickland, Tejhler Duff, Nevaeh Lee, Khai Lee; godsisters, Lorinda Clay, Palm Coast; Connie (Andrew) Burton, Palatka; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and caring friends including Theressa "Tee" Lewis.

Celebration of Vernesia's Life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, December 10, at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Rev. Theodore McRae, Pastor, Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Federal Point, is the eulogist. Interme nt will be in New Mt. Tamo Cemetery, Pomona Park .
