IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Vernan Patricia
Norris Washington
November 6, 1948 – May 20, 2025
Vernan Patricia Norris Washington, the daughter of Ida Bush Grant and Arthur Grant, was born on Saturday, November 6, 1948, in Crescent City, FL. She was educated in Putnam County School District and was a 1966 graduate of Middleton High School. She was a long-time member of The House of God Church. She later united with Empowering Word Christian Fellowship, now Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, where she served faithfully on the Hospitality Committee, Kitchen Committee and in the Choir Ministry.
Through her devotion to God and the church, Deaconess Norris blessed countless lives, caring for children, cooking, and cleaning with a humble and generous spirit. With a heart full of love and a quick wit, she brought people together, creating unforgettable moments over good food, lively conversations, witty jokes and contagious laughter.
She spent years making a difference in the lives of young children as a dedicated childcare provider, and later, gave back to her community by volunteering at her daughter's childcare center, Just Kiddin' Around Learning Academy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, Thomas "ED" Norris; grandparents, aunts, uncles and numerous cherished family members who will always be remembered.
After months of fighting, Deaconess Patricia transitioned and finally won her battle on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at Community Hospice Bailey Family Center for Caring, St. Augustine. She took her last breath on earth and drew her first breath in heaven, and now she sits at the feet of Jesus!
