Timothy Tim Clark Simmons, 54, of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at his residence following a brief illness. Tim was born on December 9, 1956 to George and Meltona Ashe Simmons in Crescent City, Florida. As a life-long resident of Crescent City, he was educated in the Putnam County School District, attending Middleton Elementary School and graduating from Crescent City High School, class of 1974. He was a member of Johnson Temple Church of God in Christ, Crescent City. He was a dedicated employee of Nettles Groceries prior to taking leave to enlist in the United States Army Reserve, serving our nation honorably for twelve years. He subsequently continued in the employment of Nettles Groceries until the establishment closed their operations. Following their closure, he became an employee of Winn-Dixie and Sav-a-Lot supermarkets, respectively. Since 2008, he was employed as a meat processor by The Best Packers in Palatka until his demise. Tim loved people and loved helping those who were in need, despite his own circumstances. Timothy was preceded in eternal rest by his beloved mother, Meltona Ashe Simmons; father, George Simmons; and sister, Jacqueline Cowell. To cherish his memories: wife: Mary Alice Simmons, Crescent City; sisters: Lois Fuller, Deland; Joyce Simmons, Crescent City; Valerie Ravenell, Lake City; and Beverly (Alex) Addison, Vero Beach; brothers: Melvin (Shirley) Simmons, Bowman, SC; and Tony Simmons, Crescent City; step-daughter, Yvette Mitchell, Daytona Beach; goddaughter, Paris Clemons, Crescent City; special friend, Catherine Watson, Crescent City; devoted friends, Bernard Wright and Clarence Fulton; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, co-workers, and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 24 at Johnson Temple Church of God in Christ. Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25 at Johnson Temple C.O.G.I.C., 1150 Huntington Road, Crescent City. Elder H. Harry Banks, pastor, is the eulogist.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
