Obituary

Thomas Loucis Woodward, Sr., 90, of San Mateo, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, December 13, 2009 at Palatka Health Care Center following an extended illness.

The son of Henry and Lula (Parrott) Woodward, he was born in Alachua County on Friday, August 29, 1919. He had resided in San Mateo for over 55 years moving from Palatka. He was a member of Second Mt. Tabor Baptist Church of San Mateo. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and earned the American Defense Ribbon and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star and was honorably discharged on October 6, 1945. He was a loyal, dedicated employee of Georgia-Pacific (formerly Hudson Pulp and Paper Mill) from 1951 to 1984.

Mr. Woodward was preceded in eternal rest by his parents; beloved wife, Rosa Lee Norton Woodward; brother, Charles Woodward; sisters, Annie Mae Williams and Helen Williams; and great granddaughter, Destiny Williams.

To cherish his memories; Son, Thomas L. (Pamela) Woodward, Jr., and daughter, Helen E. Woodward, both of San Mateo; Sister, Rosa Ann Miller, Miami; 6 grandchildren, MSGT Freddie L. Dorsey, Jr., U.S. Army (Iraq); Eric E. (Rhonda) Dorsey, Hastings; Monica E. (Nathan) Williams, Frene M. Woodward, both of Palatka; Latisha L. Robinson, Atlanta, GA; Rosa L. Woodward, Tallahassee; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday,December 18, 2009 at the Chapel of Serenity.

Homegoing Celebration will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 19 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Rev. Karl N. Flagg, pastor. Reverend Wayne Williams, pastor of Second Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, San Mateo is the eulogist and Pastor Emanuiel Roberts, presiding.

Interment will be in San Mateo Cemetery.
