Thomas Wilbur Tom Wiggins, Sr., 70, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, April 8th at Kindred Hospital - North Florida in Green Cove Springs following an extended illness. Thomas was born January 20, 1940 in Welaka, FL to the late Deacon Crill Sr., and Mrs. Grace (Thomas) Wiggins. Tom was a longtime resident of Palatka, Florida and was educated in the Putnam County School District, graduating in Central Academy High School, class of 1957. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and later worked in the construction trade. He was an avid fisherman, loved to read, cook and spend time with his family especially his grandchildren. He will be truly missed.
In addition to his parents, his brother Crill Wiggins Jr., preceded Tom in eternal rest.
He leaves to cherish his legacy of love: daughters, Adonis Wiggins, Tucson, Arizona; Rose Boo Wiggins and LaShawn Nicky Alexander, both of Palatka; sons, Thomas Heavy Wiggins, Jr., all of Palatka; Mark (Christy) Webb, Crescent City; sister, Adonis Wiggins-Hickman, Orlando; devoted mother of his children, Sharon Smart, Palatka; niece, Kelli Clarke, Orlando; Robert Hickman, Lake Wales, FL; Adrian Hickman, Orlando, FL; special extended family members and caregivers: Constance McRae, Shirley (James) Hendrieth, Eartha Smart, Linda (Larry) Hall, all of Palatka; best friend, Donald (Valarie) Hall, Orange Mills; 23 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; and a host of cousins, other relatives and caring friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday (today) and Homegoing Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 17 at The Chapel of Serenity, 2400 Madison St. Palatka. Rev. Theodore McRae, pastor of New Mt. Tamo Missionary Baptist Church, Pomona Park, is the Eulogist. Interment will be in the Oak Hill East Cemetery. The cortege will assemble 12:30 p.m. Saturday at 2105 Bronson Street, Apt. C-120, Palatka.
