Thomas MacArthur Swafford, 67, transitioned Saturday, July 30, 2011 at his residence in Palatka.

Born, Dec. 2, 1943, in Apison, Tenn., Mr. Swafford was a retired journeyman welder and member of the Boilermakers Union. He was a Mason and an active member of the Moose Lodge in Palatka. Before a disabling injury, he was an avid outdoorsman. He grew up in Apison, Tenn., and he worked at combustion engineering in Chattanooga before moving to Palatka in the early 1980s.

He is preceded in eternal rest by his parents, Russell MacArthur Swafford and Syble Hullander Swafford.

He is survived by his sons, Thomas A. (Tara) Swafford, Franlin, Tenn., and Timothy H. Swafford, Chattanooga; brother, Danny Swafford, Apison; grandchildren Tyler, Thomas, Travis Swafford, Shelbi and Devin Swafford.

Graveside services will be at 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 5 at the Plowman Cemetery, Apison, with son Thomas Swafford officiating.

McEvoy Funeral Home, Inc., Paris, Tenn., is in charge of arrangements.
