Theresa Evelyn Knowles Williams, 78, of Fleming Island (Palatka native), entered the sunset of life on Sunday, February 16, 2025 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Green Cove Springs.
Theresa Knowles Williams, daughter of Charlie Pinkston and Nellie Lou Johnson, and the bonus daughter of Willie Knowles, Sr., was born in Palatka, FL, on Friday, May 31, 1946. Theresa was baptized at an early age at Morning Star Baptist Church, East Palatka. She was a faithful member of her childhood church up until her passing.
She was educated in the Putnam County School District, and was a 1963 graduate of Central Academy High School. Theresa received an Associate in Arts degree from St. Johns Community College. Theresa also attended the "highest of seven hills", Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. There she was a part of "the best band in the land", the Marching "100", as a majorette.
Theresa worked for the State of Florida for years, eventually retiring. After retiring Theresa began acting as a substitute teacher for the St. Johns County School District. One of her favorite past times was shopping, specifically at Sam's Club and Dillards. She also enjoyed playing Words with Friends. She especially loved spending time with her family. She was known to attend all family events, while always showing appreciation for inviting her. Theresa also eagerly enjoyed time with her classmates when conversing with them via phone or face-to-face.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her son, John O. Williams; bonus grandson, Michael Hines, Jr., great-grandson, Jay'Quan Toombs; brothers, Willie Knowles, Jr., Dwight D. Knowles, and Marvin Knowles, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her sons, Ronald (Debora) McQueen of Baltimore, MD, Johnathan Williams of Jacksonville, FL; and John A. Williams of Palatka, FL.; eleven grandchildren, Carey Ponce, Taurus Perry, Karonda McQueen, Taronda McQueen, Darrious McQueen, Khalil Williams, Lexy Beck, Brandon McQueen, Chase Williams, Dallas Williams, and Charli Williams; four bonus grandchildren, Amy Hines, Brendon Hines, Chelsea Hines, and Claudius Hines; 18 great-grandchildren; 12 bonus great-grandchildren; three brothers, Booker T. (Wilma) Knowles of East Palatka, FL, Anderson (Cora) Knowles of Green Cove Springs, FL, and Berdell Knowles, Sr., of Gainesville, FL; three sisters, Beth (Larry, Sr.) Hall of Palatka, FL, Jacquline (Nathaniel) Mulkey of Auburndale, FL, and Pamela Knowles of Palatka, FL; sister-in-law, Marilynn Knowles; two godchildren, Aliyah Campbell and Abriyah Campbell; and a host of other relatives and friends.
