Theodosia Hettie Purifoy, 88, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Ascension St. Vincent's Clay County Hospital, Middleburg. The daughter of James and Edith Harris, she was born on Thursday, July 23,1936, in Palatka. Theodosia was educated in the Putnam County School District until the age of 14. She subsequently moved to New York to reside with her father and stepmother. She graduated from high school in 1954. In 1955, Theodosia married James H. Revell, Sr. and they became the proud parents of eight children. In September 1970, Theodosia, along with her children, returned to Palatka. She was a longtime, faithful member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Palatka. She was employed as a Dietary Coordinator for 28 years at Putnam Community Hospital, retiring in 1999. In 1987, Theodosia united in marriage to Earnest Purifoy, Sr. They were married for over 30 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend who remained faithful to Christ, impacting the lives of everyone who crossed her path.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her son, Adam Revell.
She leaves to cherish her memories: 7 children, Kevin, Kenneth, Angela, James, Juliet, Jennifer and Milton; 3 daughters-in-law, Edith Revell, Gwenneth Revell, Sharon Revell; son-in-law, Bruce Davis; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Pamela Damon; aunt/sister/best friend, Thelma Hughes; daughter-in-law, Sharon Revell; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends, including the Purifoy family.
Visitation of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, October 6, at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, October 7, at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Ave, Palatka. Her son, Min. Kenneth Revell, Elevate Life Church, is the eulogist.
