Theda Christian Borden, 42, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Monday, September 1, 2008, at Putnam Community Medical Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Palatka, born November 24, 1965, to Joseph & Rutha Lee (Taylor) Borden, Sr. She attended Palatka High School and in 1989 she earned her C.N.A. certification. She later moved to Daytona Beach where she attended Daytona Beach Community College. Theda was formerly employed as a Daycare worker by the Volusia County Housing Authority; C.N.A. at Putnam Community Medical Center; and a Victims Advocate at the Lee Conlee House. Theda was known for her love of cooking, traveling, and willingness to share friendly advice. She never met a stranger and she loved her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Theda is preceded in eternal rest by her maternal grandparents, Nathaniel & Elnora Taylor; paternal grandparents, Clara Borden & Ben Sermons, Sr. To cherish her memories: Brothers & Sisters, Joseph (Christine) Borden, Jacksonville; Rosezanna Medlock, Philadelphia, PA., Joanne Williams, St. Augustine; Minister Anthony (Helen) Williams, Dr. Eugene (Aretha) Foster, Minister Beverly Lenora (Sherman) Canty, Evelena (Maurice) Hayden, all of Palatka and a host of nieces, nephews, and caring friends. Visitation of family & friends will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. with a memorial tribute at 7 p.m. at the Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Services will be Saturday, 11 a.m. at To God Be the Glory Holiness Church, 3521 St. Johns Ave., Palatka. Dr. Ruth Lowe-Reeves, Pastor, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill East Cemetery.
