Tharnell Demetrious "Meechie" Dantzler, 42, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, August 2, 2013 at UF Health Shands Hospital, Gainesville. A native and lifelong resident of Putnam County he was born on Wednesday, January 13, 1971 to John Dantzler and Gloria Lewis. He was educated in the Putnam County School District. He was formerly employed as a Masonry Contract Laborer. In 1999, he united in marriage to the former Tiffany Styles. He attended the Palatka House of God Church. His hobbies included spending time with family & friends, traveling and watching football. Tharnell was preceded in eternal rest by his father, John Dantzler; maternal grandparents, John and Estella Lewis; uncles, John Peter Lewis, III and Ronnie Lewis. His great uncle, James Sanders transitioned on August 5, 2013. Those who cherish his memories: Beloved Wife of 14 years, Tiffany L. Dantzler, Children, Shanteria Peoples, Kayla Peoples, Jamar Dantzler, all of Palatka; devoted mother, Gloria Lewis, Palatka; stepmother, Valerie Dantzler, Jacksonville; Special Aunt, Vera Lewis Reaves, Interlachen; Siblings, Stephanie Dantzler, Palatka; A'Kisha Lewis, Orlando; Willie (Marsha) Lewis, Kenneth (Linda) McHenry Sr., Varetta Murrell (Moses) Allen, Avery (LaToya) Witherspoon, Vanessa (Willie) Mack, Angela D. (Shawn) Mitchell, Annette D. (Joseph) Demps, Charles (Tracy) Gervin, Keith Riggins, Jamie Morris, Luciana Dantzler (Chris) Davis, LaRhonda Mann, Jon Dantzler, Naje Smith, Jamal Robinson and Thomas (Michelle) Hill, all of Jacksonville; mother-in-law Sarah Norwood Williams, Palatka, father-in-Law, Robert Styles, Jr., Fayetteville, NC; grandmother-in-law, Bertha Norwood, Palatka; sisters-in-law, Kayo (Rudy) Gordon, San Mateo; Dorcas (Derrick) Patrick, Panama City; Crystal Styles, Lexis Styles, Fayetteville, NC; brothers-in-law, Robert Styles, Jr., Fayetteville, NC; Jimmie Williams, Jr., Palatka; god-children, Ja'Zara Fields, Ja'Hara Campbell, Markel Poole and Alonzo Hall, Jr.;and a host of other caring relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5- 8 pm Friday, August 9 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity," 2400 Madison Street, Palatka. Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, August 10 at The House of God Church, 723 North 19th Street, Palatka, Dr. Gilbert L. Evans, Jr., Pastor. Reverend Theodore McRae is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery, Palatka.
