Tesia Yulinda Fenderson Reid, 42, of Daytona Beach, was a native of Palatka, however, she was raised in Hastings. She was the daughter of Rochelle Fenderson and Lorenzo Hayward, born on Tuesday, February 22, 1972. She was educated in the St. Johns County School District. At an early age, Tesia was baptized at St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church, East Hastings. She was a 1990 graduate of St. Augustine High School. Subsequently, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice at Bethune-Cookman University, Daytona Beach. Tesia loved the Lord and was a member of Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church of Deland under the pastoral leadership of Elder Terry L. Brown. Tesia was a social worker at Community Partnership for Children, Daytona Beach for many years and was also employed at The Serenity House of Volusia (treatment center) prior to declining health. She enjoyed spending time with her family and listening to gospel music. Tesia was preceded in eternal rest by her maternal grandparents, Thad and Bessie Fenderson; paternal grandparents, James and Gertrude Hayward; and a host of aunts and uncles. Tesia entered the sunset of life at 11:08 a.m., on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, Daytona Beach. Those who treasure her memories: beloved daughter and son, Kelly Smith and Derrick Hills, both of Daytona Beach; devoted parents, Rochelle F. (Edward) Singleton, Hastings; Lorenzo (Colleen) Hayward, Winter Garden; brothers, Lorenzo LeChance Hayward, Orlando; Anthony Green, St. Augustine; sisters, Tiffany (Todd) Peterson, Apopka; Kenisha Evans Campbell, Deland; Tabitha Singleton, Hastings; Kamala Singleton, Palm Coast; Tara and Fara Hayward, Charlotte, NC; "A lifelong special sister," Kelly Cain, Daytona Beach, goddaughter, Tesia Cain, Daytona Beach; loving aunts and uncles, Shirley (Henry) Simon, Palm Coast; Dorothy (Collie) Roberts, Palatka; David (Norma) Hayward, Emily Hayward-Smith, Jacksonville; a host of nieces and nephews; cousins, including special cousins/caregivers, Willona S. Taylor, Dothan, AL., and Danielle Delaney, Orange City, FL; numerous other relatives, classmates and caring friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, July 11, 2014 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." The cortege will assemble at 10:20 a.m. Saturday at the Hastings Community Center. Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014 at The Lord's Temple, City of Refuge, 140 Gilmore Street, Hastings, FL., Bishop Thomas Cave, III, host Pastor. The Reverend Alvin Oliver, pastor of St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church, Melrose, is the Eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery, 712 S. Palm Avenue, Palatka.
