Teresa Ann Moore Lockhart, 73, of Hastings, peacefully entered the sunset of life, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Flagler Hospital, St. Augustine. The daughter of David Williams and Myrtle B. Moore, she was born on Wednesday, March 3, 1948 in Ocilla, GA. Teresa was educated in the St. Johns County School District and was a 1966 graduate of Walter E. Harris High School. She furthered her education and earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Bethune-Cookman College in 1992. Teresa was gainfully employed with the State of Florida for 35 years (20 years working with abused children, 15 years working with the migrant and dental program for the St. Johns County Health Department).
Teresa was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church of Hastings, where she served as the Vice President of the Steward Gospel Choir, Sunday School Teacher, Counselor for the Youth Department. She was active in the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #279, Women's Corterie Club, and Steering Committee of St. Johns County. Teresa enjoyed fishing, cooking, and watching television, especially: Wheel of Fortune, Judge Judy, Paternity Court and Everybody Hates Chris. She enjoyed spending time with friends.
She was preceded in eternal rest by her parents, David Williams, Myrtle and John Evans; sisters, Diane Powell, Janet Calloway; brothers-in-law, Stanford Givens, Sr., Calvin Wesley.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Tenia M. Hackney, Hastings; son, Donald (LaToya) Lockhart, Jr., Palm Coast; grandchildren, Tiere' (Rakenzia) Hackney, Jacksonville; Ciera Hackney, Hastings; Jakelvis Lockhart, Houston, TX; Deonna Lockhart, Atlanta, GA; Brae'Don Lockhart, Palm Coast; Austin Washington, Tampa; Jourdan Hackney, Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren, Jay'vien Burns, Jabari Cue, Naomi Washington; brothers, John (Cassandra) Evans, Jr., Savannah, GA; Charles (Alberta) Evans, Hastings; Marvin (Bernice) Evans, St. Augustine; sisters, Doris Givens, Valencia Wesley, Betty Evans, Sharonda Evans, all of Hastings; brother-in-law, Lawrence Calloway, Hastings; aunts and uncles, Jerry (Johnnie Mae) Moore of Atlanta, GA, James (Cheryl) Moore of St. Augustine, Dan (Betty) Evans of Titusville; Mattie Walker of Palatka; Doris Evans, Henrietta Evans, both of Hastings; and loving devoted aunt, Justine "Betty" Moore of Hastings; goddaughter, JaTanya Jackson of Gainesville; very special, devoted, and caring life friend, Leverete Wright; and close friends, James and Doris Smith, Robert and Willie Mae Verdell, and Emily Smith.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, November 12 at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 317 Daniels Street, Hastings. Homegoing Celebration will be 1 p.m., Saturday, November 13 at the Walter E. Harris Community Center - Gymnasium, 400 East Harris Street, Hastings. Co-Pastor Karon Torrence, presiding and Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Senior Pastor of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
