Tangela Brantley Johnson, 45, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Select Specialty Hospital, Gainesville. The daughter of James Brooks and Rosetta Brantley, she was born on Friday, August 22, 1975 in Vidalia, GA. Tangela was educated in the Toombs GA County School District. In 1997, she moved to Palatka. On June 22, 2003, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Renal Johnson, Sr. Tangela was employed with several healthcare facilities within Putnam County as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide for over 15 years. She was a member of the Palatka House of God Church. Tangela loved God and her family. She enjoyed going to church, spending time with her family, singing, wearing her hats, solving crossword puzzles and traveling.
In addition to her parents, Tangela was preceded in eternal rest by her maternal grandmother, Iradean Brantley; maternal grandfather, Wilbert Brinson; brother, Walter Brinson; uncle, Thomas Brantley.
She leaves to cherish her memories: husband of nearly 18 years, Kenneth R. Johnson, Sr.; sons, Javar McClary, Christopher (Sha'Quanna) Brantley, Devante Harmon, Kenneth Johnson, Jr.; daughters, Kianesha Harmon, Christian (Virgil) Dean; grandchildren, Eri'yanna Washington, Unique McClary, Brandon Golden, Malik Harmon; brothers, Anthony (Rachel) Brantley, Garrett Brantley; sister, Angela Brantley; goddaughters, London Brown, Dyneisius Session; godsons, Vanari Johnson, Tamareon Reed, Freddie Major, Jr.; god-sister, Tiffany Coley; "like sisters" Tina Milton, Joyce LaBrew, Kiesha Bryant; and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends.
In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines including required masks with social distancing, a public visitation of family and friends will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 30, at Passionate First Born Church of the Living God, 1708 Madison Street, Palatka, Elder James Matthews, Pastor. A private, limited family Homegoing Celebration will be 12 noon, Saturday, May 1 st at the House of God Church, 723 North 19 th Street, Palatka, Bishop Gilbert L. Evans, Jr., Pastor, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
