Steve Alexander Barner, 69, of Jacksonville, transitioned into the sunset of life on Tuesday, February 12th,, at his residence in Jacksonville following a brief illness. A native of Waycross, GA, he was born March 1, 1938 to Mr. Wilson Sr. & Mrs. Clyde (Johnson) Barner. He was educated in the Ware County public school system. Steve was united in holy matrimony to Ruth Hands Barner on September 24, 1956. Steve & Ruth moved to Jacksonville in 1959 and he was employed by Peoples Construction Company for more than 20 years. He leaves to cherish his memories: devoted wife; Ruth Barner, daughters; Cathy (Victor) Lucas, Joyce (earl) Andersonville, FL., brother; Tommy Barner, Waycross, GA, sisters; Lizzie Mae Gaskin, Douglas, GA, Lillie Mae (Joe) Harris, Willie Mae Howard, Evelyn Smithson, all of Waycross, GA, ten grandchildren, one great granddaughter, Eight sisters- in- law, three brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be Friday, February 15th from 5-8PM at the Chapel of Serenity. Graveside services will be Saturday, February 16th, 2 p.m. at Barnar Cemetery, Waycross, GA. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Karl N. Flagg Serenity Memorial Chapel, Palatka, FL and Welch & Brinkley Mortuary, Waycross, GA.
