Senior Airman (E-4) Stephon Dontarius Cohens, 21, of Navarre, Florida, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at his residence. He was born Wednesday, November 23, 1988 in Gainesville, Florida to Stephen M. Cohens, Sr. and Latasha Hughes. He was educated in the Putnam (Palatka High School) and Clay County School Districts, respectfully graduating cum laude from Ridgeview High School, class of 2007. While in high school, Stephon was involved in numerous sports, especially the wrestling team, winning 1st place in the District and Regional Championships, and placed third in the State championship in both 2006 and 2007. Upon graduation, Stephon entered the United States Air Force for basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. He was a military certified firefighter/EMTstationed at Mildenhall RAF, England for two years returning to Eglin Air Force Base in January, 2010 where he was currently stationed. On his 20th birthday, November 23, 2008, he married the love of his life, Kristen in East Providence, Rhode Island.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday (today) at the Chapel of Serenity. Celebration of Life Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at Palatka High School, 302 Mellon Road, Palatka. Reverend Dr. Andrew McRae, Pastor, Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, Gainesville, is the eulogist. Interment with full military honors conducted by the Moody AFB Honor Guard will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery, 712 S. Palm Avenue, Palatka
