Obituary

Stanley Cook, 62, of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at North Florida Regional Medical Center, Gainesville. The son of Roy S. and Rosa Elizabeth Willis Cook, Stanley was born on October 27, 1957 at Bert Fish Memorial Hospital, Deland, FL. Stanley was the fifth born child of eight raised in Seville, FL. He attended Modena Elementary School in Modena, NY from 1961 to 1968 while the family resided there. Upon relocating to Florida, at the age of 11, he attended Seville Elementary School and subsequently attended and became a 1975 graduate of T. Dewitt Taylor High School where he lettered in baseball. He also attended Methodist College in Fayetteville, NC.

Stanley Cook grew up serving the Lord and serving as a Junior Deacon at his childhood church of St. John's Missionary Baptist Church in Seville, FL. He was raised to be a hard working family man. Stanley worked with T. Larry Jones Inc. for over 40 years where he was supervisor and managed the shipping yard. He continued his supervisory career at Bill Newbold Ferneries, Inc. where he faithfully worked every day until his health started failing him.

As a young man, in 1972, he met and fell deeply in love with the former Rosetta Ashe in 1972. On October 17, 1976 they united in marriage and became the proud parents of two daughters and a son. Stanley was an avid sports fan who enjoyed as watching his favorite football team, the Florida Gators. He truly believed in spending time with his family and loved to go fishing. He had a big heart for his community and brought joy to everyone he met.

In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in eternal rest by his sisters, Vivian (Carlton) McDonald, Miriam Cook and Deborah Cook, and Darlene Cook (July 3, 2020); brother, James Cook Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memories: loving wife of 44 years, Rosetta Ashe Cook; daughters, Vonetta (Kevin) Cook, Jacksonville; Sylvia Cook-Murphy, Crescent City; son, Stacy (Latina) Cook, Welaka; 6 grandchildren; and a soon to be born great-granddaughter (September 2020); brother, Wayne Cook, Seville; sister, Valerie (Ricky) Rhodes, Sylvania, GA; sister-in-law, Belinda Cook, Sarasota, FL; niece/bonus daughter, Nekiesha Quinn; bonus granddaughter, Gabriella Burrell, both of S. Daytona; god-sister, Idella (Bobby) Reese, Seville; godchildren, Jennifer Cazely, Crescent City; Keith (Christine) Cazely, Dallas, TX; Roland Simmons, Atlanta, GA; Kelly Manning-Cain, Daytona Beach; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers.

In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines (including required masks) a limited, socially-distanced visitation of family and friends will be from 5-7 p.m., on Friday, July 31 at Victory Worship Center, 1022 Huntington Road, Crescent City. Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12 noon, Saturday, August 1, at Miller Middle School, 101 Prospect Street, Crescent City, Elder Mose Hawkins, Pastor of No Limit Praise Tabernacle, Deland, is the eulogist. Rev. James Vickers, pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Seville, presiding. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Seville.
