Obituary

Shirley Ann Williams Spells, 64, of Palatka, answered her Lord and Saviors eternal call on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Putnam Community Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Palatka, Shirley was born on June 5, 1946 to the late Elder Joseph H. Williams and Mother Arwillnor Simpson Williams. She was educated in the Putnam County School District (Central Academy High School Class of 1963). On January 23, 1966, she was united in holy matrimony to Ernest C. Spells and they have been soulmates for over 44 years. For over 50 years, she was a faithful servant of God at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church. Shirley loved the Lord and she exhibited her love daily through singing, praying and praising God for who He is. A longtime homemaker, her hobbies included cooking and feeding the hungry and simply helping anyone in need. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in eternal rest by her brother, Teaberry Snap Williams.

To cherish her memories: husband, Ernest C. Spells, Palatka; one son, Cornell Bernard Williams, Palatka; one sister, Elouise Williams Hackney, Palatka; grandson, Cornell B. Maxwell; sisters-in-law, Lillie B. McNeal, Pearl Spell, Cora B. (Joseph) Williams; brothers-in-law, John Peter (Thelma) Spells, Timothy L. (Katie) Spell; devoted nephew, Eddie C. Hackney; godson, Matthew Wright; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, especially very devoted friends, Drs. Errol and Andrea Findlater; Connie Schneider; Eliza Green and Elizabeth Davis.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday (Today) June 18 and Saturday, June 19 from 9-11 a.m. at the Chapel of Serenity.

Homegoing Celebration will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 19 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Ave, Palatka. Her Pastor, Elder J.C. Tookes, Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, Palatka is the eulogist.

The cortege will assemble at 12:15 p.m. at the Spells residence, 140 Magnolia Street, Palatka.

Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
