IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharon L.
Mondesire
January 23, 1957 – October 20, 2025
Sharon's first breath was taken in the heart of the Bronx, New York, in 1957, a year that would set the rhythm for a life full of compassion and quiet determination. Growing up with the loving guidance of her parents, Courtland and Sylvia Coke, she learned early on what it meant to lean into community. Her siblings, older sister Eleanor and twin sister Karen, were constant companions, creating the strongest bonds sisters could have through the existing decades of the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Even as the neighborhood shifted, Sharon's heart stayed rooted in the values her parents instilled: kindness, resilience, and an unwavering belief that we can make a difference.
Education was the next milestone on her path, one she approached with the same fervor that had defined her childhood. She earned a Bachelor of Education from Mercy College based in Iowa where she discovered the power of learning to shape futures. Her passion for public service led her further to St. Thomas University - Miami, FL where she completed a Master's in Public Administration. These academic pursuits were more than credentials; they were milestones that shaped her vocation, which would become the core of her identity: protecting those who needed protection most.
For four decades, Sharon served as a devoted social worker with Florida's Department of Children and Families. In that role, she became an unseen guardian for countless children and vulnerable adults, navigating the harshest challenges with grace and unwavering resolve. Her days were spent listening to stories of hope and despair alike, yet her spirit never wavered. The work was demanding, but Sharon found joy in seeing the resilience bloom in those she helped, a testament to her belief that love could heal even the deepest wounds.
After moving to Palm Coast, Sharon became a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Through the years, she exhibited a quiet presence while rendering service with a smile. She was a member of the Greeter Ministry, Security Ministry, Women's Ministry and most recently, the Trustee Ministry. She became the official restaurant scout and chauffeur for a small group of church sisters including fellow trustees, Annie Eversley and Muriel Weems.
Outside the office and throughout her retirement, Sharon's life blossomed with love and her favorite pastimes. Sharon found joy in cooking, gardening, traveling, and worshiping the Lord, activities that nurtured both her body and soul. Her devout Christian faith anchored her spirit, where church and service provided her with community, prayer, and the steady rhythm of worship.
Her greatest joy, however, has always been her role as a grandmother to Remy. Watching him grow, she sees the legacy of love and compassion she carried from her parents echo in his bright eyes.
Sharon entered the sunset of life on Monday, October 20th at AdventHealth Palm Coast, at age 68.
Surrounded by her son Sean, daughter‑in‑law Helen, grandson Remy, and sister Karen, Sharon's life feels complete, a circle of care that spans generations. Her story is one of a woman who turned every challenge into an opportunity to nurture, protect, and love.
