Sandy Bess-Sellers, 65, of Tampa (Palatka) entered the sunset of life on Saturday, August 28, at Putnam Community Medical Center. The daughter of Lillie Mae Manning and Wilbert Prince, Sr., she was born on January 19, 1956 in Palatka. Sandy was a 1974 graduate of Palatka South High School. She retired after 28 years of dedicated service with Verizon Communication. Sandy truly loved living life to the fullest through simple pleasures, especially: cooking, shopping, and entertaining family and friends at her home for a variety of occasions. She will be forever remembered as an authentic spirit. She was a strong, intelligent, and thoughtful woman. Her generosity and loving kindness for all are unmatched.
Sandy was preceded in eternal rest by her parents, Roland and Lillie Mae Manning; father, Wilbert Prince, Sr.; maternal grandparents, John and Lillie Robinson; sisters, Morreatha Prince, Brendlyn Dumas; grandson, SPC Stephon Edwards.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter and sons, Syaki (Frederick) Edwards, Dorian West, Vincente' Sellers; grandchildren, Na'Tavius Williams, Destiny West, Dy'Mon Williams, Za'Rie West, Joy Sellers, Venus West, Sherife Medlock, Jhace Edwards, Zyion Valentine; great-granddaughter, Lei'lani Williams; sisters, Vicki (Sylvester) Miller, Kelli Manning, Darlene Prince, Cherieta Prince; brothers, Ray Michael Bess, John (Delois) Manning, Reginald (Stynia) Manning, DeJuan Prince, Judge Favors, Ricky Maples, Keelan Thomas; "like sons," Dante (Latima) Miller, Vichard (Renetta) Miller; "like daughters," Briggett(Leroy) Turner, Nicole (Rick) Davis, Chela (Melvin) Dasher; uncles, Leon (Mary) Brown, Lorenzo Brown, Leonard Brown; aunts, Barbara Word, Linda Brown; god-brother, William (Sheridan) Jackson; god-children, Tyra King, Reshay Roberts, Kenya Burns; devoted aunt, Lennette Maxwell; devoted cousins, Bobbie Hopkins, Wilbert (Ann) Hough, Judy Bryant, Lisa Bryant; devoted friend, Vincent Sellers; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mandatory CDC guidelines for social distancing and masks required): Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, September 10 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Celebration of Sandy's Life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, September 11, at Calvary's Family Life Center, 1414 Bronson Street, Palatka. Reverend Andrew McRae, Pastor of Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, Gainesville, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
