Sandra Paulette Brown Holsey, 61, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, November 1, 2024 at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital, Gainesville. The daughter of Ed Brown, Jr. and Marethea Griffin Brown, she was born on Wednesday, August 28, 1963 in Palatka. During her younger years, she attended Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and was later a part of IDMR under the leadership of Jim Manley. She was educated in the Putnam County School District and was a 1981 graduate of Palatka High School. She was employed by the Putnam County School District in Food Services and was formerly employed as a CNA at Ponce DeLeon Nursing Home, St. Augustine. She was the owner of Hangry Kitchen. Sandra enjoyed fishing, shrimping, listening to music and cooking.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her sister, Claretha Brown Arnold; brother, Ed Trumane Brown, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories: husband, Derrick Holsey; children, Vonshell T. Hines, Quinteria J. (Jairus) Mulberry, Nakeasha R. Brown, Daeron T. Brown, Derrick (Markia) Deering, Sr.; bonus daughter, Deandria Robinson; 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 8 brothers, Gordon (Christell) Brown, Darryell Brown, Sr., Larry Brown, Harvey Brown, Cornell (Meredith) Brown, Eddie (Vontrece) Brown, Gregory (Veronica) Brown, Sr., Freddie (Janie) Brown; 10 sisters, Shirley Brown, Betty Thomas, Cynthia McKinnon, Doreen Brown, Tangie (Edwin) Givens, Loretha (Derrick) Tate, Anita Brown, Ventrell Brown, Betty Jo Brown, Regina (James, Jr.) Norwood; aunt, Ella Fells; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, November 8; Celebration of Sandra's Life will commence at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 9, at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity. Dr. Herbert L. Johnson, Jr., Pastor, Calvary Family Life Center, officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
