Deacon Sam Session, Jr., 78, of Palatka answered His Masters Call and entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at Putnam Community Medical Center. A native of St. Augustine, he was a lifelong resident of Putnam County. He was born Tuesday, September 10, 1929 to Sam & Maybell Session, Sr. He was educated in the Putnam County School District. He was a member and ordained Deacon of St. Joseph Primitive Baptist Church and over the years served as a member of the senior choir and former President of the Trustee Board. Sam was an avid auto mechanic who loved antique cars. A retired logger, he was affiliated with several timber firms, including Smith, T.J. Brown, Barnes and Nease Timber Companies. His hobbies include fishing and fixing on and repairing cars. He was an honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran during the Korean Conflict and later served in the Army Reserves. On October 10, 1988, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Connie Montgomery and they faithfully kept their vows. His parents, Sam & Maybelle Session, Sr., three Brothers, Johnny B. Session, Lloyd Session, Sr., and Leroy Session, Sr. preceded Sam in eternal rest. To Cherish His Memories, devoted wife of 20 years, Connie Session, Palatka; Children, Elder Jimmie (Beverly) Session, East Palatka; Arthur (Regina) Young, St. Augustine; Sam Session, III, Eltha Lena (Elder Theodore) Ruth, and Sabrina Eubanks, all of Palatka; Sister, Betty Session, Palatka; Brothers, Johnson Session, Sr., Robert (Fannie) Session, and Billy Session, all of Palatka; Izell (Jean) Session, Orange Mills; Elijah (Karen) Session, East Palatka; Sisters-in-law, Rita Session, Virginia Montgomery, Mary Hill, all of Palatka; Dora Smith, Panama City; Brother-in-law, Willie (Dorothy) Montgomery, Palatka; 17 Grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends. Visitation of family and friends will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at St. Joseph Primitive Baptist Church, 165 Phillips Dairy Road, Palatka and Saturday from 9-12 noon at the Chapel of Serenity. Homegoing Celebration will be Saturday, August 9th, 1 p.m. at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 719 Reid Street, Rev. James H. McGriff, Pastor. His nephew, Rev. Gregory A. Session, associate minister of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church is the eulogist.
