IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruther Bell
White
July 29, 1951 – June 3, 2024
Ruther Bell White, 72, of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life on Monday, June 3, 2024 at her residence. The daughter of Elder Reuben Jack White and Mae Bell (Washington) White, she was born on Sunday, July 29, 1951 in Crescent City, Florida. She attended the ARC of Putnam County, where she was able to make connections and communicate with her peers. Although she was born with physical and mental limitations, she was an exceptional young lady, and enjoyed interacting with her family. Ruther Bell knew how to love others and she also knew how to make people leave her alone. "Aunt Rutha Bell" or "Aunt Root", what her nieces and nephews affectionately called her, had an outstanding memory, and would always make them smile when she remembered their names and when asked, that customary question each year, after celebrating her birthday: "How old are you?" Her forever answer was seven! Ruther was a lifelong member of The Crescent City House of God. She had a kindred heart and enjoyed taking care of her baby dolls, watching Family Feud, coloring and going on special trips to the store with her dedicated caregiver/niece, Traci.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her sisters, Dorothy "Momma Dot" White Williams, Ruby Lee Trammel, Lillian Louise Kennel, Hattie Mae Gillard; brothers, Aaron White, Billy Ray White, James Otis White, Reuben Jack White, Jr., Johnnie C. White, Willie Sylvester White, and Cornelius Thaddeus White, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories: brother, William Hardy White; sister, Anna Lee Mims; special & loyal niece/caregiver, Katracia Young; brother-in-law, John J. Williams, Jr. (whom she called Daddy, after he and his wife, Dorothy, accepted the parental request to raise Ruther Bell after the death of her mother); and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 11a.m.- 1 p.m., with Celebration of Life commencing at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church (South Campus), 608 Randolph Street, Crescent City, Rev. Karl N. Flagg, Pastor. Rev. Walton A. Mims, Sr., New Jersey Diocese of The House of God, Inc., eulogist.
