Ruth Lowery Macon, 98, Palm Coast, FL, was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on Friday, July 13, 2012 at Stuart F. Meyer Hospice Care Center, Palm Coast. Ruth was born in Wilmington, NC on January 3, 1914 to Lewis and Fannie Lowery. She graduated from Williston Industrial High School, Wilmington, NC in June 1933. She was a resident of New York for over 67 years, residing in Palm Coast since 2006. She was formerly employed as a professional family housekeeper, Long Island; Irving Synoff Clothiers, Bronx; and in 1976 retired from Aurora Toy Manufacturers, Hempstead. Ruth was a founding member of Calvary Baptist Church, Queens, NY (honored for 50 years of Service). She was a phenomenal woman and a good judge of character who often helped others in their time of need. She also loved to cook. She was preceded in eternal rest by her husband of 23 years, Lee Macon; siblings, Edna Fullwood, Louis "Boy" Lowery, and Lois Frierson. She leaves to cherish her memories: devoted son, Ray Curtis (wife, Sondra) Henderson, Palm Coast; three grandchildren: Rayna K. Henderson, Atlanta, GA; Tanya R. Simmons, Columbus, OH; Ray Sheldon (wife, Patrice) Henderson, Palm Coast; three great-grandchildren: Lakisha, Sheldon, and Terrell; two great-great-grandchildren: Omar and MarieJeanne; loving caretaker, Edna Campbell, Palm Coast; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Friday, July 20 with Homegoing Celebration commences at 10 a.m., at First A.M.E. Church of Palm Coast, 91 Old Kings Road, Rev. Gillard S. Glover, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 20 at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 7083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville.
