Dr. Ruth Geneva Lowe-Reaves, 83, native and lifelong resident of Palatka peacefully transitioned from her earthly labors to her heavenly reward on Sunday afternoon, July 27, 2014 at Putnam Community Medical Center. The daughter of Mathis and Leola (Adams) Gilyard, born on December 4, 1930, she was educated in the Putnam County School District at Central Academy High School. She was a longtime Presser at One Hour Martinizing Dry Cleaners on Lemon Street in downtown Palatka before answering the call to fulltime ministry. During her early childhood years she was a member of Mt. Carmel Freewill (now known as St. Joseph Primitive) Baptist Church. She subsequently joined Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend P. H. Frison where she served for many years. In 1972, she commenced her pastoral calling and worked primarily with children, started a prayer band and evangelized wherever she was led by the Holy Ghost. Going from hospitals to jails and nursing homes, she was often found with a Bible in hand, a white-cloth covered box as her lectern, and a passion to evangelize by telling somebody about the goodness of God and the need to accept Jesus as their personal Savior. The faithful assistants and flock of believers began to grow and they quickly outgrew prayer meeting in the various homes. On April 30, 1972, God's visionary leader instituted "The Universal Church of Christ Dominion of God" at 512 North 13th Street, Palatka. Continuing the covenant relationship with God, larger facilities were required and therefore a joint-facility agreement with Pastor Precious Evans at 1015 Washington Street provided short term relief for two years. The name was revised to "The Temple of God Revival Center" and subsequently "The Temple of God Miracle Deliverance Center." "Pastor Lowe" was a leader-builder who led a determined church family with a mind to win lost souls for the Kingdom of God. Subsequently with the overwhelming church growth, they relocated to the old "Club 101" building on North 11th & Main Street. In September 1978, the church purchased the old "Madison Theatre" and in 1984 built their first fellowship hall. Following the inspiration of a 1981 tent revival in Clay County (Green Cove Springs), The Temple of God Miracle Deliverance Center #2 was established in Pier Station, subsequently moving to Green Cove Springs in 1984. In 1993, the church became known as "To God Be the Glory Holiness Church" to reflect who would receive all of the honor and glory for the bountiful blessings and marvelous miracles. In September 1998, the worship center transitioned to its present campus at 3521 St. Johns Avenue. On November 18, 1983, she earned her Doctorate of Divinity degree at the Jameson Christian College under the leadership of Dr. Howard G. Jameson, Th.D., Ph.D., College President. She was the founding President of the "One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism" fellowship to promote a better, closer relationship and to have real harmony among the pastors. Dr. Lowe-Reaves was a longtime Radio Evangelist and was awarded "WIYD 2003 Radio Evangelist of the Year" by Pastor Mamie Bryant. She served as a chaplain at Putnam Community Medical Center and the Putnam Correctional Institution for many years. Her passion was worshiping God, preaching the gospel, witnessing to all she encountered, and enjoying family time. Her hobbies included shopping and eating out. For over four decades, this General in the Lord's army, dedicated the infants, evangelized the lost, baptized the repentant, edified the believer, mentored the ministers, and most of all lived the life of a saved, sanctified, and holy-Ghost filled servant. Many of her former assistant pastors and trained ministers have progressively became dynamic leaders and victorious pastors abroad. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her husbands, Charlie Lowe; Jake Reaves; son, Jerry Alexander Green; brother, Mathew Gilyard, Sr., and great-granddaughter, Antoria Sophia Appling. Those who cherish her memories: devoted daughter, Pastor Linda L. Hall, Palatka; 5 grandchildren, Arnetta Faye (Chattman) Word, Myra Styles, and Dr. Aaron John Hall, all of Palatka; Shan Green, and Jerry Green Jr., both of Boston, MA., beloved sister, Ola Mae Bell, Palatka; sister-in-law, Betty W.
