Obituary

Ruth Hands Barner, 71, retired Federal Reserve Bank currency sorter, of Jacksonville, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at her daughters residence following a brief illness. The daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Johnny Benjamin (Mary Ann Hopkins) Hands, Ruth was born June 9, 1939 in Waycross (Hoboken), GA. and was resident of Jacksonville for over 50 years. Ruth was united in Holy Matrimony to Steve Barner on September 24, 1956 in Waycross. She was a born again believer and bible scholar who really loved the Lord. She was an excellent cook and baker who took great pleasure in feeding the elderly in her neighborhood and teaching the youth about Jesus.

Ruth is preceded in eternal rest by her parents; her husband of 51 years, Steve Alexander Barner; Son, Michael Barner; Brothers, Donald L. Hands & Johnny B. Hands, Sr. preceded her in eternal rest

To cherish her memories daughters, Cathy (Victor) Lucas, Joyce (Earl) Anderson, Jacksonville; sisters, Evelyn Tutt, Gwendolyn Jenkins, Barbara (John) Proctor and Inez Martin; brother, Dannis (Roselyn) Hands; 10 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.

Visitation of family and friends will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at the Chapel of Serenity. Celebration of life will be graveside at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 6 at Barner Memorial Gardens in Waycross, Georgia with her sister, Evangelist Barbara Proctor, officiating.
