Rudolph Rudy Walker, 55, of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life unexpectedly on Friday, November 11, 2011 at Putnam Community Medical Center, Palatka, as a result of injuries sustained in a logging accident. A native of Union Springs, AL, Rudy was the youngest child of 11. The son of Joseph Walker Sr., and Gurlie Mae Cargle Walker, he was born on Wednesday, March 21, 1956. He was a 1974 graduate of Bullock County High School. He became a proficient truck driver before finishing high school, working with his father and brothers at Walker Logging Company (the family owned business). At an early age, he joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church (Indian Creek Community). He has been a resident of Palatka since 1987, relocating to Crescent City in 2005. He was united with Vevvy in marriage on November 19, 2005. He was a member and ordained Deacon of New Mt. Tamo Missionary Baptist Church, Pomona Park. He was a former member of the Palatka House of God Church and Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. He was employed by Willie Gilyard Enterprises and formerly Shelton Trucking, Alford & Alford, and McNeil Diversified. Rudy was a unique, straightforward person who loved the Lord, his truck and enjoyed frying the fish at family cook-outs.
