Obituary

Rudolph "Rudy" Shuler, Jr., 52, of Orange Park, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at HCA FL Orange Park Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in a pedestrian vs. motor vehicle accident. The son of Rudolph Shuler, Sr. and Josephine Smith, he was born Monday, October 25, 1971, in Palatka, Florida. He received his education in the Putnam County School District. At an early age, he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized in the St. Johns River.

As a result of his generous spirit and pleasant personality, he was loved by many. His life was full of laughter, dancing, and singing which he loved doing so well. According to the loving person he was, everybody in Palatka was his "cousin".

He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Smith, an aunt who reared him as her son, Bertha Ross, a great-grandmother who reared him, Maggie Haynes Ross, maternal grandmother, Pearlie Haynes, paternal grandparents, Isaac Hart and Lorine Shuler and Lily Mae Williams and Robert McBride.

His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his daughter: Jo'Lesiah "JoJo" Deneese Shuler, Palatka; brother, John (Marchiana) Medlock of Shreveport, LA; father, Rudolph Shuler, Sr., Tampa; sister, Shanth Brooks, Palatka; brother-in-law, Kederick Brooks, Sr., Palatka; nieces and nephews, Kalyn Medlock, Johnathan Medlock; Keneen Hymes, Jodie Bush, Joseph Bush, of Shreveport, Louisiana; Desmond Carr of Denver, CO; Devon Shuler of West Palm Beach, Kelderick Brooks of Palatka and  Kederick Brooks, Jr. of Texas; aunts, Rosa Mae Brown, Palatka; Margaret Ann, Sylvia McPharley, Eva Simon of Tampa; uncles, Willie (Jack) Lee Jr., Horace (Betty) Hill, Randolph (Margaree) Hill, and John Smith Sr., all of Virginia; Sonny Shuler of Tampa, FL; a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. As mothers, Henri Ann Israel and Sandra Brooks; "as sisters and brothers," Desiree' and Pearl Fuce, V'Tosha Lambert, Cornethia Isreal-Forman, Kimberly Fate, David Fuce, Wayne and Jerry Hines. Devoted Aunt Vannie McCray-Burke and Uncle Michael McCray.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, December 22 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Celebration of Life will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 23 at Pentecostal COGIC,  624 N. 9th St, Palatka. Pastor Thomas Brown, Spirit of The Living God Ministries of Jacksonville, FL is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery, Palatka.
