Obituary

Deaconess Ruby Lee McCloud Lewis, 89, of Norfolk, VA, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at her residence. The daughter of Henry Wilcox, Sr. and Carrie Jackson, she was a native of Glenmora, LA, born on Tuesday, May 27, 1930. She was the fourth of nine children. In her early years, the family relocated to Florida and she was home-schooled in Ft. McCoy, FL. Ruby, a wonderful, affectionate woman of God, lovingly hugged, kissed, and greeted everyone with tender love. She was a faithful member and Deaconess of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Green Cove Springs. She was best known as the "Kissing Bandit" and the "Candy Lady." She believed in family togetherness. Family Reunions were very important to her and the Lord blessed her to enjoy both, the Wilcox Family Reunion and the Lewis, Taylor and McCloud Family Reunion this year before she was called home.

In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in eternal rest by her children , Robert Lewis, Calvin Lewis, and Amanda Taylor; siblings , Deborah Brockington, Elenora Williams, Henry Wilcox Jr., James Wilcox, Luethel Acker and Rosa Eady; husband , Theodore Lewis; husband, William McCloud; grandchildren , Baby Cobbert, Emmanuel Jordan, Theodore Cobbert, Wynetta McCloud, Carletta Martins and Joshua Martins; great-grandchildren , Jacob Taylor and Anthony Dye; great great-grandchildren , Ci'Mari Barlow Davis, Dashawn Floyd and Karter Holmes.

She leaves to cherish her memories: devoted children, Roosevelt Lewis, Orange Park; Minister Velma (Lewis) Zeigler, Glenda McCloud Lee, Green Cove Springs; Anthony (Robyn) McCloud, Jacksonville; Evangelist Escella (Taylor) Moss, Minister Gerald (Rhonda) McCloud, Detroit, MI; Emmanuel McCloud, Jacqueline (Carlton) Woodson, and Renee Michelle (Jose) Martins, Norfolk, VA; youngest sister, Ethel W. (Rev. Robert L.) Wright; 51 grandchildren, 123 great-grandchildren, 106 great great-grandchildren , and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, September 27, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 1300 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Green Cove Springs. Homegoing Celebration will be 1 p.m., Saturday, September 28, at Congregational Holiness Church, 2079 SR 16 West, Green Cove Springs, Rev. Ronnie Surrency, host pastor.  Her brother-in-law, Rev. Robert Layton Wright, Mt. Pleasant's Pastor, is the eulogist.

Interment will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Green Cove Springs.
