Roy Lee Thomas, 69, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Palatka Health Care Center following an extended illness. A native of Pelham, GA., he was the son of Charles Lee Sims and Henrietta Thomas Britten, born on Tuesday, July 10, 1945. He was a graduate of Central Academy High School, Class of 1963. Roy was a long-time employee of Florida Furniture Industries, Inc., retiring in 2005. After accepting Christ as his personal Savior, Roy was joyfully baptized and united in discipleship at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church. Roy enjoyed riding his bicycle; spending time with his family (especially his mother) and dear friends. In addition to his father, Roy was preceded in eternal rest by his step-father, Willie Britten. He leaves to cherish his memories: son, Darrell Thomas, Tampa; daughters, Donna Thomas and LaTonya Thomas, both of Palatka; devoted mother, Henrietta Britten, Palatka; sister, Shirley Britten, Palatka; special sister, Agnes (Ronald) Peacock, Tallahassee; aunt, Elouise General, Palatka; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; devoted friend, Elizabeth Jackson, Palatka; and a host of loving nieces and nephews; caring cousins and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, September 26th (today) at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 27 at Mount Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Pastor, is the Eulogist.
