Roy Edward Chambliss, Jr., 40, of Charleston, WV, entered the sunset of life unexpectedly on Monday, September 10, 2012 at his residence. Roy was born on Monday, July 24, 1972 in Buffalo, NY. He was the son of Roy Chambliss Sr. and Georgia Mae McRae. A newcomer to the Charleston, WV community, he was a former resident of Palatka and a 1991 graduate of Palatka High School. Roy was a long-time construction worker who specialized in brick masonry and he loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved dogs. Those who cherish his memories: beloved parents; Georgia (Earnest) McRae, Palatka; Roy Chambliss Sr., Buffalo, NY; brothers; Harvey (Vanessa) Shelley, Orlando; Dennile (Traci) Chambliss, Jacksonville; Lavar (Iona) Swanson, Laurent (Shanel) Swanson, both of Lackawanna, NY , and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, September 21st at the "Chapel of Serenity." Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September 22nd at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 North 19th Street, Palatka, Reverend Anthony Q. Robinson, Sr., Pastor. Rev. Dr. Andrew McRae, pastor of Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, Gainesville, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery, Palatka. The cortege will assemble at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the family's 711 Bronson Street, Palatka residence.
