Deaconess Rosie L. Nealy, 92, of Ashburn, GA, (former longtime Palatka resident), transitioned from life to eternal salvation on Friday, July 20, 2012 at her residence following an extended illness. The daughter (firstborn of six children) of George & Maggie Thomas, she was born on Saturday, March 13, 1920 in Ambrose, GA. She was united in holy matrimony to Deacon Willis Nealy. She was the beloved mother of 11 children. Both of them served the Lord faithfully at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Palatka. She was a member of Usher Board #1, Missionary Society and Deaconess Board (she sat in the Deaconess corner and sang those beautiful hymns). She was also a past member of the Order of Eastern Star. After leaving Palatka in October 1996, she became a member and worshiped at New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Ashburn, GA until her declining health prevailed. In addition to her husband and parents, Rosie is preceded in eternal rest by her siblings, James Thomas, Lewis Thomas, and Ethel M. Jones; sons, Willie C. "Billy Sam" Nealy, and Elder Marvin Nealy; and daughter, Annie Merle. Artis. Those left to cherish her memories; daughters and sons: Aretha Jackson, Ashburn; Rudean Faulkner, Gwendolyn Nealy, Charles (Mary Ann) Nealy, Jimmie "J.D." (Jackie) Nealy and Anthony Nealy, all of Atlanta; Brenda Nealy, Brooklyn, NY; Harold (Elizabeth) Nealy, Palatka; brothers: Johnny (Ethel) Thomas and Freddie (Faye) Thomas, both of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, Greater Shiloh Baptist Church family, and friends. The Nealy family will receive friends from 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 27th at Southview Mortuary Chapel. Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28th at New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 123 South Jefferson Street Ashburn, GA with committal services in Westview Cemetery, Ashburn, GA.
