Obituary

Rosa Lee Vickers Stephens, 75, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, September 11, 2009 at Putnam Community Medical Center. She was a native of Jesup, (Wayne County) Georgia, born Friday, March 30, 1934 to John D. and Lottie Lee (Caesar) Vickers. The Vickers family moved to Palatka while Rosa was a teenager. Rosa Lee married Otha Lee Stephens in May 1953 and to their union, Johnny, Belinda, and Diana were born. Rosa was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church. Following several relocations, Rosa returned to Palatka during the early 70s and has remained ever since. She worked as a farm laborer until her heath declined. Among her favorite pastimes were spending time with family, cooking, and playing cards.

Rosa is preceded in eternal rest by her parents and husband; daughter, Belinda; brothers, Johnny, Charlie, Buddy, and David; Sisters, Mary Anderson and Fannie Boyd and lifetime partner, Isaac Seymour.

To cherish her memories, Son, Johnny Lee Stephens, Orange Park; Daughter, Diana McKinnon, Palatka; Sister, Agnes Vickers, Palatka; Granddaughters, Sabrina Stephens, Larondi Stephens, LorFontana Harrell, Tekelia (Gregory) Williams, all of Palatka; Jasmine Stephens, Orange Park, Nicole Jackson, Japan, Jwana McKinnon, Marietta, Ga. Lindsey McKinnon of Marietta, GA; Grandsons, Thomas (Tataneacha) McKinnon, Palm Coast; Lavelle McKinnon, Palatka; Anthony Stephens, Orange Park; 23 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a host of other relatives.

Visitation of family & friends will be Friday, September 18, from 5-8 pm at the Chapel of Serenity and Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 19 at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 322 N 10th St, Rev Frederick T. Demps, Pastor.

Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery. Friends may sign the Stephens familys guestbook at www.flaggserenitychapel.com. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Karl N. Flagg Serenity Memorial Chapel.
